ARCLIGHT TAKES “THE ALPS”
TO NEW HEIGHTS IN TV AND RADIO CAMPAIGN

Hollywood, CA — Arclight Productions has completed production of television and radio spots for the new IMAX® theatre film, The Alps, which premieres this month on giant screens around the world. The spots were commissioned by Academy Award® nominated MacGillivray Freeman Films and are available for broadcast in all markets.

Arclight provided both creative and production services, developing the campaign around the film’s central story: climber John Harlin’s attempt to scale the North Face of the Eiger, the legendary mountain that killed his father and has haunted him ever since.

The :30 TV spot features some of the most dangerous moments of Harlin’s expedition along with stunning visuals of the Swiss Alps including breathtaking aerials above the Matterhorn. The :60 and :30 radio spots follow a similar dynamic as Harlin voices his "unfinished business" with the mile-high Eiger, offering a firsthand account of one man’s obsession to conquer fear and climb towards his destiny.

"The human drama is already compelling," says Arclight producer Steven Kochones, "but this is also an IMAX® movie filmed in one of the most spectacular locations in the world. So we’ve designed spots that capture both the intimacy of the subject matter and its magnificent setting. The Alps is a personal story that unfolds on an epic scale, and the advertising conveys its unique impact."

The Alps premiered March 9, 2007 in select IMAX® theatres and giant screen cinemas. The film is produced and distributed by MacGilivray Freeman Films and presented by Holcim and Switzerland Tourism in association with Four Eyes 4iS.
